125 kg, with context.
The supplied 2024 report attributes 125 kilograms of carbon to our account’s Cloudflare usage. It also describes Cloudflare purchasing renewable energy certificates (RECs) to match 100% of its network electricity use.
THE ADGSTUDIOS SUSTAINABILITY JOURNAL
We build for the future. That means caring about the planet it runs on, too.
From the cloud to our little corner of the garden: a look at our progress, our everyday choices, and the work still ahead.
Explore our impact ↘01 — IN THE CLOUD
Our Cloudflare Carbon Impact Reports estimate the carbon saved compared with average data centres serving the same usage volume.

These are provider estimates, not a complete studio footprint or a carbon-neutral claim. RECs account for renewable electricity; they do not erase our travel or hardware emissions. Reports for 2025–2026 are not yet included.
02 — ON THE DESK
Big things have come from small desks. Here’s the hardware behind the studio, as shared by our director.
Apple M2 Mac mini
One monitor, a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. The compact setup that powered the early studio.
RTX 3070 Ti desktop
A desktop rig and three monitors joined the story. More room for demanding workloads, and more hardware to account for.
MSI · GTX 1650 laptop
A laptop-centred workspace. Engineering, creating and getting things done from a smaller physical setup.
RTX 5060 laptop
Our current laptop setup. Capable hardware for the work ahead, with actual energy use still to be measured.
ADGSTUDIOS reports running a Linux VDS M server 24 hours a day, with an off-grid solar-powered setup and a gigabit switch and router. Always connected, with sunshine in the infrastructure story.
Infrastructure details are self-reported. We have not independently verified the hosting energy supply or calculated its emissions.
Hardware history is self-reported. A smaller setup does not automatically mean lower emissions: power draw, hours of use, manufacturing and device lifespan all matter. The broader studio story starts in 2022; the M2 Mac mini model was released in January 2023 ↗.
03 — AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD
Sustainability lives in ordinary days, too. A garden, thoughtful food choices, recycling and time spent on our feet.
steps a day.
Away from the screen. Back into the world. A daily walking habit, shared by our director—not counted as a carbon offset.
We keep a garden and care about where our food comes from. Our director’s choices include Boschendal produce and free-range eggs and chicken from Elgin for home cooking.
Personal sourcing preferences; no supplier certification or measured carbon saving is claimed here.We separate all our plastic and cardboard boxes into dedicated recycling bins, then hand them over to the City of Cape Town for recycling. A simple routine that keeps these materials out of our general waste.
Our garden refuse, including wood and plant material, goes to the Gordon’s Bay refuse facility for recycling. We keep garden waste separate and give it a route beyond the ordinary bin.
That’s approximately 9,600–30,000 km a year by car. Travel is a real part of our impact, and one we want to understand better.
04 — THE NEXT SMALL STEPS
Our next-step wishlist. These are ideas to work towards, rather than completed initiatives or measured savings.
Trim unnecessary JavaScript, resize images and avoid autoplay video. Make thoughtful performance choices part of the brief.
Explore repair, reuse and responsible e-waste recycling before replacing equipment. Track energy use to guide future choices.
Evaluate edge hosting, caching and security services where they fit. Measure the effect instead of assuming every migration is greener.
Start a travel and electricity log, combine trips where practical, and explore credible renewable electricity options.
Engineering the impossible.
Caring for the irreplaceable.
